We Are His Ambassadors!

This is the basis for the judgment: The light has come into the world, yet people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil. John 3:19

From eternity, God had a plan. Though it was never His will, His created humans would sin against Him. So He would put His plan into place. He revealed it to Adam and Eve when He told them that a Savior would come to crush the head of the evil one. Through Noah, He gave us a symbol of this gracious plan, the rainbow. To Abraham, He extended His promise, assuring Abraham repeatedly that all nations would be blessed through his offspring. Through David, the Holy Spirit inspired the young shepherd and king to compose psalms which foretold the greater King and Shepherd to come. Through the prophet Isaiah, God revealed to His people that the Savior would carry their iniquities to the cross, to suffer, and to die for them. When the time had fully come, God the Father did send His Son to be born of a woman and under the law so that He could uphold the law for us. He died for all so that all might live.

Why then do we say that not all will be declared innocent on the last day? Why do we say that some will be cast into Hell on the last day? Why should we spend so much time and effort in warning others about their sin? Isn’t God love? Why then should He cast anyone into the fires of Hell?

Jesus answers these questions as He spoke to Nicodemus. He had come into the world to be its light. His word is truth. He did not mince words. He spoke boldly and plainly. The law must do its work of convicting hearts. Then the gospel can lift the wretched soul. But many of the people did not want to come into the light. Rather they loved the darkness. They longed to remain in their evil deeds. They did not want their sin to be disclosed by His light. They chose not to follow the narrow way to salvation. They condemned themselves by not believing in Christ and in His act of redemption.

How blessed we are that we are among the throng who has been touched by the gospel. How blessed we are that the Holy Spirit has created faith in our hearts to trust this message. How blessed we are to daily hear Christ calling to us through the pages of Scripture as we read it, hear it, and inwardly digest it.

How blessed we are also that we have been given the privilege of sharing that gospel message with others. We are His ambassadors to a world which needs to hear and heed His warnings. We are His ambassadors bringing a message of salvation and peace. We are His ambassadors piercing the darkness with the radiance of His light. Blessings as you share the gospel.
