Pity Party
Have you ever been so down because you have been working so hard to accomplish something, no one seems to be helping you, in fact, ignoring your efforts all together and you see no results in your efforts? Me too! Here at Immanuel God's word is shared in its purest form by some very hard working people. So often only a handful of people respond with attendance or participation. Did you miss the point? PEOPLE RESPOND! God moved their hearts to be a part of your effort. It is so easy to focus on those who didn't bother to respond.
In 1 Kings, Elijah is having a pity party after he proved to the people that God is real and responds to prayer (I Kings 18:16-45). He, like myself, forget the praise and glory is supposed to be God's, not mine. "Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” " 1 Kings 19:13-14.
God listens to your prayers of anger, frustration, and fear, and reveals Himself in His word, that you must study in order to know His will for you and your efforts. This summer, start in 1 Kings with Elijah, who even though he was a prophet, didn't have all the answers, develop a new habit of 'listening' to God for His will in your life.
